International Conflict Analysis and Resolution

Catalog description

Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite(s): POLS 103 or GLST 200 Explores the complexities of international conflicts and the types of interventions that can be used to address these conflicts. Building on the concept of positive peace, it investigates mechanisms of prevention, management, and resolution of civil wars and international conflicts. Students examine the question, “How can we build peace in the aftermath of extensive violence?” This course examines negotiation techniques; peacekeeping, peacemaking, and peacebuilding practices; and transitional justice. Case studies are used throughout the course to learn about contemporary and recent cases through analysis and application.
