Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of Golden Four GE Areas (1A, 1B, 1C, 2) Topics include: infinity, paradoxes, Goedel’s incompleteness theorems, whether mathematics is discovered or invented, why mathematical knowledge requires proof, whether mathematics is objective truth or social convention, and the identification of types of mathematical objects.
