Native American Women

Catalog description

Three hours lecture per week Recommended: NAS 100 or any lower division NAS course. This course explores the lives of Native American women across time and geography, from the pre-contact era to the present day. Students will examine how Indigenous women’s experiences have been shaped by - and in turn have shaped - colonization, cultural transformation, gender roles, political resistance, and sovereignty. Emphasis is placed on Native women’s voices, knowledge systems, and leadership within both traditional and modern contexts.
