Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of Golden Four GE Areas (1A, 1B, 1C, 2) Studies jazz music as a uniquely African American art form and social phenomenon. Issues of race, ethnicity, class, gender, and social justice will be examined to understand the origins and evolution of jazz.
