units Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite(s): MATH 250 This course provides a rigorous introduction to the theory and applications of probability. Topics include probability spaces, random variables, and their associated discrete and continuous distributions. Students will study expectation, variance, and moments, as well as characteristic and moment-generating functions. The course examines sequences of random variables, the laws of large numbers, and the central limit theorem as foundations for statistical inference. Special probability distributions-such as the Binomial, Poisson, Uniform, Exponential, and Normal-are explored and applied to model real-world phenomena.
