Catalog description
Three hours of lecture and three hours of lab a week Introduction to the physical processes of the ocean and their interactions with Earth systems. Topics include plate tectonics and seafloor geology, water properties and seawater chemistry, atmosphere-ocean circulation, waves, tides, coasts and sea-level change, and human-ocean interactions. Includes a weekly laboratory emphasizing quantitative problem-solving, data collection/analysis, and communication of results. Satisfies GE 5A and 5C. Three hours lecture and three hours lab per week; no prerequisites. $0-$500 (range due to travel related class)
