Culturally Responsive and Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies

Catalog description

Three hour seminar per week Prerequisite(s): Admission to the CSUCI English MA Degree Study of culturally responsive and culturally sustaining pedagogy theory and practice, with an emphasis on supporting diverse learners in higher education. Students discuss and analyze strengths-based teaching practices that not only affirm but sustain learners’ cultural and linguistic identities, experiences, and communities, and then apply those concepts to developing and evaluating their own learning activities and classroom practices.
