Catalog description

Three hours lecture per week Uses narrative elements, close reading, and interpretation to explore how we listen, understand, and interpret medical histories to support empathic approaches to public health. Through a service learning project, students bear witness to participant stories of illness and interpret those stories within a narrative frame.
