Three hours seminar per week Recommended: BLST 200 , BLST 201 , BLST 202 By focusing on Black leaders, this seminar provides for a greater understanding of the overall struggle Black peoples have waged by examining the thought processes and ideas of some of the most outspoken and sometimes controversial leaders. By focusing on the ideas and thoughts of Black leaders, students will have a better means of understanding the discipline of Black Studies, the overall struggle against inequality and racism, and the ideological origins of black forms of leadership. The seminar topics will vary in different semesters but will use scholarly documents and primary and secondary texts to examine historical and contemporary theories, methods, and intellectual and aesthetic traditions forged, challenged, and transformed by Black leaders. Repeat 2 times up to 6 units
