Three hours lecture per week This course examines the intersection of music, visual art, and entrepreneurship through the lens of Jay-Z and Jean-Michel Basquiat. We will explore how these two influential figures shaped Black identity in art and business, analyzing how their work redefines the traditional boundaries of art and commerce. The course will also focus on their influence in promoting the visibility of Black artists in spaces traditionally dominated by white narratives. Students will explore themes of branding, monetization, and cultural capital in the context of Black artistic expression.
