Catalog description

This upper-division course introduces the art and practice of theatrical sound design, focusing on the creation, manipulation, and integration of sound to enhance live performance. Students will develop practical skills in recording, editing, and digital playback of sound effects while exploring system design, speaker placement, and signal flow. Through hands-on projects and critical listening, the course emphasizes creative storytelling through sound, field recording techniques, and the use of contemporary digital audio workstations and signal processing tools.
