Scenic Design

Catalog description

In this course, students focus on the art, theory, and professional practice of theatrical design. Students will develop their personal design process through textual analysis and exploration of design history, culminating in the creation of two to three full scenic design packages. The course emphasizes effective visual communication and rendering (both digital and traditional), mastery of collaboration techniques, and producing a complete, professional design portfolio including white and production models, color renderings, painters’ elevations and detailed documentation suitable for professional submission.
