Catalog description

This course serves an introduction to sonography. Students will establish foundational knowledge of behavior and performance for clinical practice that include, but not limited to; an overview of the profession, standard of care, and overview of specialty areas (e.g. ob-gyn, abdomen, vascular, neurosonography, cardiac, and pediatric). Basic sonography theory along with the study of anatomy identification, scanning planes, transducer orientation, ergonomics, and scanning protocols are introduced. Meets the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS) guidelines.
