Catalog description

The overall goal of this course is to provide students with skills and knowledge to work in a biological research laboratory making use of cell culture techniques with an emphasis placed on mammalian systems. Topics covered in this course include aseptic techniques, requirements for cell growth in vitro, mechanisms underlying cellular differentiation, cell viability, cryopreservation, subculturing, research applications and the expression of transfected DNA in cultured cells.
