Catalog description

This course provides students with foundational knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology as they relate to health information management and medical coding. Students study disease processes, clinical manifestations, diagnostic methods, and treatment a pproaches including pharmacological interventions for major body systems. The course emphasizes the connection between pathological conditions, drug classifications, and their documentation in health records to support accurate coding and health informatio n management. Attention is given to health disparities in disease burden and equitable access to pharmacological treatments across diverse populations.
