Catalog description

This course introduces students to the foundational principles of medical terminology used in healthcare settings. Students learn to identify, define, spell, and pronounce medical terms by analyzing word parts including prefixes, suffixes, and root words. The course covers terminology related to major body systems, diagnostic procedures, clinical conditions, and treatment methods. Emphasis is placed on building a working medical vocabulary applicable to health information management, medical coding, and cli nical documentation, with attention to culturally competent communication in diverse healthcare environments.
