Catalog description

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the structure and function of the human body for health information technology students. Topics include cellular biology, tissues, and all major organ systems including skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardi ovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary, endocrine, and reproductive systems. Students develop an understanding of normal anatomy and physiology as a foundation for recognizing pathological conditions, interpreting clinical documentation, and applying accurate medical coding. The course integrates consideration of health disparities and population -level variations in disease prevalence across diverse communities.
