Catalog description

This course explores the critical role of health information in modern healthcare delivery. Students will examine healthcare delivery models, health record content, documentation standards, and the purposes and users of health information. Key topics inclu de legal concepts, privacy, confidentiality, data security, and compliance with federal and state laws. The course covers revenue management, reimbursement processes, and strategies to prevent fraud and abuse. Emphasis is placed on ethical decision-making and protecting organizational integrity. Students will also review data standards and how they support quality care and efficient operations. Leadership responsibilities and ethical challenges related to health information are addressed.
