Catalog description

Taught by GTU. This will be a seminar style course where students will engage with primary texts from two of the leading figures in "postmodern philosophy," Michel Foucault and Jacques Derrida. The course will be designed to give students a framework for engaging these two figures critically and constructively as dialog partners in christian theology, specifically their engagement with and criticisms of negative theology (Such as apophatic or mystical approaches to theology). As a seminar course, students are expected to engage with the texts, one another, and the instructor as we wrestle with what it means to talk about God, or as once was asked to Derrida, "Who are you praying to?"
