Sacraments in Latino Context
California Lutheran University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Taught by LST. SACRAMENTS IN A LATINO CONTEXT This lecture-seminar course provides an inculturated theology, preparation and celebration of the sacraments for a U.S. Church which is becoming predominantly Latino. It is especially designed to introduce the MDiv student both to the theology of the sacraments and to the pastoral resources available for celebrating sacraments in a Latino context. Its ethnographic approach, however, provides a model for sacramental inculturation to other contexts. Aside from the weekly readings and discussion, students are responsible for one article report, one exam, and one movie reflection paper. Knowledge of Spanish is helpful but not a requirement. Can be counted as a JSTB MDiv praxis course. [Auditors with faculty permission]
