Catalog description

Taught by JST. This course is an advanced seminar focusing on the contemporary sacramental theology of Louis-Marie Chauvet, particularly a close reading of his classic work, Symbol and Sacrament. Other theologians who have engaged his work will be considered as well. The study will highlight his tripod of Christian identity - Scripture, Sacrament, and Ethics - with a particular emphasis on the liturgical celebration of sacramental rites in the Christian Church. Seminar members will be asked to facilitate a session and prepare a research paper at the end of the course. This course is intended for STL, STD, advanced MDiv and MA students. [Faculty Consent required; 12 max enrollment]
