Salesian Identity & Charism

Catalog description

Taught by DSPT. As a platform for understanding the specific charism of St John Bosco and the various branches of the Salesian Family, students unpack the Christian concept of charism particularly with reference to vocation and mission. The course begins with a survey of biblical concepts and follows theological developments. Emphasis shifts then to consecrated life. Methods for identifying the charism of the founder will be explored along with the question of expressing the spirit of the founder in new cultural realities. Format: Class meets only during the first half of the semester. Lecture/discussion. Evaluation: group work, class presentation/paper.
