TAUGHT BY CDSP. Course meets January 25-April 16, with four hours of seminar per week. Study of poverty policy issues and the engagement of faith communities in the context of a highly consequential moment in U.S. politics. Led by World Food Prize laureate David Beckmann, a visiting fellow of the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley and the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, and including students from both schools. Will feature remote presentations by other national leaders at the nexus of poverty, faith, and politics. Readings, papers, and an activist project. Taught in a remote synchronous format using UC Berkeley systems. Intended for MDiv, MA/ MTS, and DMin students; open to PhD students with additional requirements. Class meets Mondays and Fridays, 2:30-4:30 pm, January 25 - April 16. [12 max enrollment; Auditors excluded]
