Catalog description

Taught by GTU. Led by an ordained minister and practicing poet, this is a writing-intensive course for those who want to use poetry as a means to explore, challenge, and renew their faiths. We will divide our time between a workshop and a seminar-style study of the work of George Herbert, Emily Dickinson, and a selection of contemporary poets invested in questions of spirit. Student poems will be the focus of the workshop, which will also include writing exercises focused on specific elements of craft. The course is open to all levels of poetry writing experience, and to writers of any religious background.
