Catalog description

This course is designed to introduce the student to the concepts and applications of descriptive and inferential statistics. The focus will be on developing a conceptual understanding of statistics and data analysis skills, and their application to problems encountered by those in the public administration, management, policy analysis, public health, and non-profit fields. In this course will cover topics including principle of measurement, measurement of central tendency and dispersion, probability and distribution, correlation regression, hypothesis testing, t-test, analysis of variance, and chi-square. You will learn and use a computer program (Excel Data Analysis Tool Pak) to help you understand and perform statistical analysis.
