Taught by SFTS. This course will explore the reception history of the Hebrew Bible in Black communities, particularly in the 20th and 21st century. The course will ask students to exegete texts that have had substantial influence in the Black communities and then evaluate literature, film, and music's engagement of the biblical corpus.
