Catalog description

This course will first address the structure and content of the four general purpose external financial reports: Statement of Income, Statement of Retained Earnings, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows. Key metrics from these four reports will be discussed as they relate to both investor and management decisions. Cost analysis will be performed by classifying costs according to: function, behavior and relevance to managerial decision making. Some specific quantitative finance models studied in this part of the course will include but not limited to:  cost-volume- profit, CVP analysis, ABC overhead models, capital budgeting, time value of money analysis, net present value analysis, payback period, internal rate of return, degree of operating leverage, margin of safety, incremental analysis for decision making and other techniques to help management plan, direct and control operations.
