Catalog description
This course surveys the field of finance and examines key financial concepts, instruments, and tools that affect corporations and their management. It places emphasis on how financial analyses and calculations may inform decision-making. Students learn to use financial statements to assess the financial health of companies, they apply the concept of Time Value of Money, as well as techniques such as Net Present Value and Discounted Cash Flow to evaluate investment opportunities and corporate projections, finally they gain understanding of financial markets' perspectives on corporate stock and bonds, and other financial instruments. Basic skills in Excel or other computer spreadsheet programs are required.
