Catalog description

This course equips emerging teachers with the foundational understanding and practical skills needed to foster inclusive and culturally responsive classrooms. Through an exploration of diverse cultural backgrounds, experiences, and identities, participants delve into pedagogical strategies that honor and engage all learners. Key components include examining the intersectionality of culture and education, analyzing biases and stereotypes, and developing culturally sensitive teaching practices. Students will explore case studies, engage in reflective discussions, and design inclusive lessons to apply theories into real-world classroom scenarios. Emphasis is placed on creating learning environments that validate diverse perspectives, encourage critical thinking, and nurture students' cultural identities.
