Spirit Made Flesh

Taught by SKSM. Spirit Made Flesh: Religiosity and the Senses is a multireligious approach to the reclamation of embodiment based on the five senses. Students will be asked to engage their own practices of embodiment throughout the semester and some practices (such as sharing food, making incense, etc.) will serve as a hands-on component of our classroom discussions. This course is intended for M.Div. students to expand their engagement with spiritual practice, organic multireligiosity, and the work of justice through the reclamation of the body. Class will combine lecture, hands-on practices, and seminar style discussion. Students will read from a variety of traditions, expand their own personal spiritual practices, and prepare a final research paper or project to be presented to the class. Pre-requisite: Multireligious Intensive or equivalent with permission of instructor. Relates to Starr King thresholds 1, 3, 5, and 8 and MFC Competencies 1 and 3. This course is high residency only.
