Catalog description

Both law and culture impose rules on people and society. This class explores the two as they influence the development of U.S. culture during first two centuries of its development through the use of primary sources and legal case studies. Significant intellectual and cultural changes are emphasized through the lens of class, violence, property, and personal freedom.
