Catalog description

This course supports candidates in their second supervised field placement, which must be in a public school under the supervision of an experienced Pupil Personnel Services credential holder at either an elementary, middle, or high school, with 300-500 field hours required. Candidates enrolled in Field Studies I and II must complete a minimum of 800 hours between both field placements with 150 hours (between EDCG 533 and 534) working with students from diverse backgrounds and 100 hours (between EDCG 533 and 534) of experience in each of the following areas: Social/Emotional, College/Career, and Academics. Candidates will be expected to apply theory and knowledge gained in the program in practice in their field placement site. This course will provide group supervision of candidates' experiences and address relevant topics for emerging school counselors' professional development.
