Religion and Society

Catalog description

Taught by ABSW. This course is part of the 5 course Public Theology Leadership program. The class will be geared toward a study of the ways religion has and continues to impact US social issues of our day as well as how the US social issues have and continue to impact religion today. The most recent newsworthy issues will be discussed as well as the following topics: civil religion; religion's role in the formation of society; society's role in the formation of religion; capitalism and the free market enterprise; freedom of speech; freedom of religion; trauma; activism; and conflict resolution. SPRING 2019 Class meets Friday/Saturday: 2/15-16; 3/15-16; 4/12-13; 5/10-11, 2019; Fridays from 6:10pm-9:40pm, and Saturdays from 9:00am-4:00pm at ABSW.
