Catalog description

Advanced programming techniques for software design/development with emphasis placed on numerical/scientific applications. Using the Python programming language students develop an understanding of the Python programming environment/language and how best to apply it to a given problem specification. Topics covered include: 1) programming environments (Linux, Windows, MacOS); 2) data structures (list, set, tuple, dictionary); 3) comprehensions; 4) recursion; 5) packages (numpy, scikit, tkinter, matplotlib, pandas); 6) multi-threading/multi-processing; 7) object-oriented design/programming.
