Corrections in the 21st Century

Catalog description

This course examines the history and development of U.S. correctional institutions. In this course, students will analyze the structure and functions of jails, detention centers, and prisons throughout the U.S. Students will also focus on community corrections including probation and parole. Additionally students will identify the diverse experiences of women, people of color, and juveniles under correctional supervision. This course highlights the social services, educational programs, and medical treatments for offenders within correctional institutions and ex-offenders in the community.
