Exegeting the Apocalypse

Taught by GTU. This course is an introduction to constructive strategies for interpreting and exegeting the New Testament book of Revelation. While it is intended for students with some exposure to critical methodologies, all students and auditors are welcome. Subjects of discussion include (1) the content and structure of Revelation, (2) its historical origins and contexts, and (3) major modes of interpretation including ancient, medieval, modern, and contemporary perspectives on Revelation. Students will be evaluated through a combination of quizzes, reading responses, a class presentation, and a final paper or project. This course is taught by PhD student Justin Staller with a Newhall Award, under the supervision of James Lawrence.
