Catalog description

This course is an upper division, 2-unit course designed for Biology majors and is an introduction to research in the biological sciences. The focus of the course will be on student understanding of hypothesis formation, hypothesis testing, data collection, data analysis and writing of a scientific paper. In short, the purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of the process of scientific research from a hands-on and practical perspective. Each student will perform a scientific research project from start to finish - including the writing of a professional scientific paper and the presentation of original research.
