Catalog description

This course is designed for non-science majors and is an introduction to marine biology via current issues and problems facing our world's ocean environment. Topics include coastal population growth and associated pollution, fisheries, and fisheries management, plastics in the ocean, climate change and ocean acidification, mercury in seafood, beach erosion, alien species, marine biodiversity and coral reel ecology/decline. The course includes both lecture and laboratory experiences.
