Catalog description

For non-majors or students not pursuing a preprofessional program related to biology. Includes general biological principles and a survey of the plant and animal organisms. Specifically, this course examines the basis concepts of biology in the modern world and surveys the current knowledge and conceptual framework of the discipline. Explores biology as a science, a process of gaining new knowledge, and the impact of the biological science on society. Topics covered include evolution, ecology, genetics and physiology. This course includes a laboratory experience and is designed for non-science majors. Lecture, 3 hours/week; Laboratory, 2 1/2 hours/week.
