Catalog description
Prepares students to apply for certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and to provide care to clients across a variety of healthcare settings. This course serves as the clinical component in skilled nursing facilities required to meet the state-mandated curriculum. Instruction and practice include patient rights, interpersonal communication, safety, infection control, fundamental clinical skills, nutrition, rehabilitation, documentation, and end-of-life care. Students successfully completing both theory and clinical courses are eligible to take the California Department of Public Health CNA certification exam. Limitations on enrollment: CPR certification required prior to the course. Students must be over 16 years old at the time of the course start. Students must provide documentation of medical history and physical examination. Students must provide documentation of a negative tuberculosis test.
