Catalog description

Provides rehearsal and performance of compositions written in the jazz idiom for small groups of brass, wind, rhythm section players, and singers. Includes compositions from swing, latin, and fusion styles. Emphasis is on chord progression analysis, solo devices, and improvisation. Must have proficiency on a musical instrument or as a singer demonstrated by audition. Some of the class hours for this course may be scheduled as To Be Arranged (TBA). May be offered in a distance-learning format.
