Catalog description

This course is a historical survey of the United States from the end of the Civil War to the present. The course also introduces students to historical reasoning skills. Traces political, economic, social, and diplomatic developments that shape contemporary American policies and problems with an emphasis on the historical, philosophical, political, and aesthetic contexts. Critical, analytical written work is the primary means of evaluation. May be offered in a distance-learning format. CAB GE C (Beg. F'24), D, Cal-GETC 4. C-ID: HIST 140.
