Emphasizes listening/speaking and reading/writing skills at a beginning level. Focuses on understanding and participating in communication and conversation skills in routine social situations. Students read simple passages, and generate and write sentences related to basic communications, housing, food, health, emergencies, transportation, employment, and community resources.
