Intro to Environmental Policy

Catalog description

Introduces the political and economic forces shaping environmental quality and natural resource sustainability as they interact with the dynamics of political parties, special interest groups, the US Congress, President, Judiciary, and citizenry. Environmental problems and issues are examined in both historical and current contexts in the California State and Federal domains. Encourages citizen participation and advocacy for social, economic, and environmental justice. Topics include socioeconomic causes of resource degradation, governmental and interest group roles in developing and implementing policy, cost-benefit analysis, science-based decision making, case studies, policy effectiveness, and reform.
