First Year Experience

Catalog description

The First Year Experience course builds students' sense of community and connection. First-year college students will be introduced to information, resources, and skills necessary for a successful transition to college while focusing on the strengths they bring to higher education. Students will explore academic and career success strategies through problem-solving and critical-thinking activities to promote personal growth. Students will examine the following concepts: diversity, relationship-building, education and career planning, learning styles, time management, academic skills, mental and physical health, and financial literacy. May be offered in a distance-learning format. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC, WITH LIMITS: CG 1, 1FYE, 51, and 54 combined: maximum credit - 3 units. CAB GE E.
