Catalog description

Explores creative and innovative tools and processes such as 3D printing, laser cutting, digital knife, and other Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) equipment to draw, sculpt, mold, cast, or carve. Combines tools with creative design to bring artistic ideas to fruition. Students engage in design thinking, work with digital fabrication hardware and software, and integrate digital fabrication techniques with traditional art and tool making. Types of projects may include 3D-printed objects for bronze casting, laser-engraved linoleum blocks for printmaking, vinyl-cut resists for copper etching, and laser or 3D-printed patterns or die forms for jewelry making. Some of the class hours for this course may be scheduled as To Be Arranged (TBA). May be offered in a distance-learning format.
