Catalog description

Per NASM: “The goal of this program is to prepare you for a long-lasting and fruitful career as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT); regardless of your educational and career background. With this program, you’re given all of the tools and resources needed to become a successful fitness professional and positively impact your client’s health and wellness.” This class will be taught in a lecture-plus-lab format, allowing students to not only learn key concepts but also apply them hands-on. At the beginning, the course will by cover foundational topics like anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, and supplementation. This will provide the student with core knowledge needed for success. As the course progresses, more advanced topics are covered such as biomechanics, exercise modalities, and how to tailor exercise prescriptions for different populations. By the end of the course, students will be well-prepared to take the NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) exam. Students will receive a basic personal training certification after taking the course’s final exam and can further pursue NASM’s official CPT certification by taking it online.
