Catalog description

This course explores classic and contemporary theories of leadership in organizations in order to develop the students’ own potential as leaders in work and society. Behavioral, Contingent, Transformational, and Moral forms of leadership will be examined. Learning methods will include readings, cases, simulations and an ongoing assessment and self-reflection on the students’ own strengths and competencies for further development. The course is designed to increase students’ leadership competencies. While it builds upon previous class work - especially Organizational Behavior - the focus on the course is the application of this material to the development of the student’s own leadership style and leadership capabilities. Situations faced by managers and leaders at all levels of organizations will be examined.
