Catalog description

This course will chart the development of a prophetic persona in Hebrew Literature in relation to the Zionist Project. We will reflect upon the specific attributes of the genre of prophetic Zionist Literature and consider it within the historical, literary and theological contexts from which it emerged. Readings include: Abraham Mapu, Judah Leib, Gordon, Ahad Ha-am, and Chaim Nachman Bialik. This course is the same as HIS 337 and RSP 337, and course repeat rules will apply. Students should consult with their major department regarding any restrictions on their degree requirements.
