Catalog description

This course will explore the intersections between prisons and nature from a multidisciplinary perspective at various scales, from the global to local, and inside carceral facilities. Course topics include the relationship between incarceration and climate change, the ecological footprint of correctional facilities in terms of resource use, waste management, and their impact on local ecosystems, and the potential for sustainable solutions within carceral facilities. This course is the same as SOC 369 and course repeat rules will apply. Students should consult with their major department regarding any restrictions on their degree requirements.
